Feature Twirler Auditions

Twirlers and marching band

The ISUCF’V’MB feature twirlers perform at all home pregame and halftime performances and travel with the band to selected away games. In addition, the feature twirlers will accompany the Cyclone Marching Band at Pep rallies and other public appearances. The feature twirlers must excel in creative and interpretive high-quality performance and be able to work independently to design their own routines for each show. All potential members who wish to audition to be a Feature Twirler must fill out the Future Member Applicaiton!

Twirler Auditions

The Cyclone Marching Band is now accepting applications for feature twirler beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year. The successful candidate must exhibit superior twirling abilities, perform as a first-class ambassador for Iowa State University, and be able to maintain excellent academic credentials throughout their career on campus. The CMB will be accepting one feature twirler position for the 2025-2026 season and will be joining two other feature twirlers.

Candidates MUST be fully admitted to Iowa State University in order to be considered as a finalist for the position. Applicants must submit a cover letter, resume/portfolio of your twirling and academic accomplishments, and a video of themselves performing a solo routine. The solo routine may be from 90 seconds to 3 minutes long. In addition, the video compilation may include other examples of the applicant's competitive twirling appearances, as well as any solo, duet, parade, or halftime performances they have given.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate a variety of high/low tricks, double illusion, 2 and 3 baton work, and multiple leaps. Applicants should also be able to show the ability to travel across a large area, flexibility, and showmanship.

We will then reach out to you directly for an in-person tryout, which will be held in Ames, IA at the end of March.
