Color Guard Auditions

Color Guard

Summer Experience Camps

Each summer, the Iowa State Color Guard offers a series of experience camps that introduce prospective members to Iowa State techniques and prepare them for their audition in August. There is no cost to attend, and we’ll provide equipment for you to use.  If the weather cooperates, plan to be outside. Please bring sunglasses and/or a hat, an insulated water bottle, and wear athletic clothing suited for a hot, summer day.  To kick off camp, we will start in Simon Estes Music Hall (map below) on the following dates this year:

  • June 29, 2024
  • July 27, 2024

Camp will start at 1 pm and wrap at 5 pm. If you plan on attending one of our Guard Experience Camps, please fill out our Experience Camp Interest Form.

Potential Members:

All potential members who wish to audition for the 2024 ISUCF’V’MB Color Guard must fill out the Future Member Application!

Students auditioning for the guard can move into their Fall housing starting Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 9:00 AM. Students wishing to move in on Saturday, August 17, may do so at an additional cost. Please contact the Department of Residence for details.  If students do not make the guard, they will still be allowed to stay in their residence hall at no additional cost.

Below, you will find a video playlist of techniques, exercises, and routines that will help you prepare to audition for the Cyclone Marching Band Color Guard.

Dates of Auditions:

Auditions are Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm and all day Monday, August 19. Please come to auditions on time and be prepared to work hard. The final decisions will be made during the first few days of the camp.
